About Abby

I began my journey into doula work after becoming convicted of the importance of a women’s birth and postpartum experience through my own story.


I had a fairly traumatic birth with my first daughter, due almost entirely to a lack of good prenatal education and preparation. Followed by a rocky postpartum period that I was also unprepared for.


I know that my story is all to common, and is far from the empowering and blessed experience that is possible when women have the support, education, and preparation necessary for entering the sacred work of birth and motherhood.

Fastforward to the present moment, I have thrown myself into the education world of birth and postpartum, trained as a doula, and had beautifully redemptive homebirth experience with my second daughter.



As a Christian I believe that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28), and I believe that no matter what circumstances you face in your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, this time has the potential to be a peaceful, powerful, and holy chapter of your life.

Birth is a transformative experience and one that modern cultural all to often undervalues and fails to support women in.


The journey from maiden to mother is one of the most monumental times in a woman’s life. I believe as Christian women, we have a responsibility to support each other in our motherhood journeys.


I love the growing momentum in the natural birth world today. It is so encouraging to see more and more women claiming their right to good prenatal education, and preparing to give birth supported and empowered.

However, HCDC exists to support women from a straightforward Christian perspective - I believe that our strength is in Christ alone and that we should not be dabbling in any new age ideas when it comes to all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
